This was to decide who came 1st/2nd in the quiz last night. The Good Fairy plumped for 1878 and our opponents went for 1864.
So did we win the €50 or the €32 ? Our record in tie-breaks to date has been dismal..........you'll have to look the answer up yourselves
Well according to wikipedia the first time he did it was 30th June 1859, also backed up by his entry on notable Biographies (http://www.notablebiographies.com/supp/Supplement-A-Bu-and-Obituaries/Blondin-Charles.html), so you must have both been wrong.
ReplyDeleteIt also says he did it "a number of times", which makes the question somewhat inaccurate, or at least imprecise...
Ah..... perhaps I did not make it clear that the criteria for the win was the team who gave the year closest to the event. However I do not believe anything was said about the first time he did it so I shall be looking into this and may well lodge a protest.....although every quiz. Is prefaced by Mike with "my answer is right and final even when I'm wrong" so a protest is probably doomed ....
ReplyDeleteOh well, bad luck. Still, I think you should lodge a complaint, not to get the decision changed but to ask for questions to be accurately phrased - that'll annoy Mike!
